Yea, G&G’s are pretty things and ginuwine Reb, so that’s another feature.  Only problem is that it’s brass (.36 of course) so I keep loads at 15 grains, although I cheat and use T7, which, according to the 15% rule is the equivalent of 17.25 grains black.
My only brass frame, but I’m real glad I got it.  I appreciate the cachet of a Confederate piece.  Need a Leech & Rigdon   = Steel Griswold. Best of both worlds.  I bet you like that brace of big old Walkers.

Illinois has solved the puzzle. If it shoots a projectile, it's a firearm.

That could include a slingshot.

In California, Penal Code § 16520 defines a firearm as “a device designed to be used as a weapon, from which is expelled through a barrel, a projectile by the force of an explosion or other form of combustion.”

“other form of combustion” includes compressed air.

Federally, a c&b revolver is not a firearm... until you put that conversion cylinder in it. So a felon had better just keep it c&b. I'm not sure how the feds would view a felon owning the cylinder and a revolver it fits (but not assembled into the gun), but it's a moot point because possession of ammo for it is also forbidden.

States can and often do have more restrictive laws on the issue. And, carrying it is a state issue. In a lot of states, if you load it and carry it it's a firearm.

I wonder if kids little rubber tipped dart guns fall under that in Illinois Capt. Kirk?

That sounds like a nice gun there G. I do not have a brass framed revolver. Not by choice just haven't sought one out to date. The Leech and Rigdon you mentioned, they had to move around quite a bit back in those days it seems. I guess that would account for the few numbers of guns that were produced. The last location they set up shop was in Greensboro GA which is about 1:45 hours from my location. I need to see if there are any landmarks there someday. The Walkers are nice. I had actually considered selling one but the more I thought about it the less of a good idea it seemed.

I keep looking at 1860 Armys. Can't afford one right now. But I keep looking, just the same. I've even thought about buying just a frame on fleabay, and building one up piecemeal as I have the money.

I actually bought from these folks awhile back and even though their site is a tad archaic by todays standards they are a good reputable company with a lot of choices. Their prices on some guns are even less than Midway. Here is an 1860 for instance.

It's been said before, but can stand repetition:
The Colt 1860 Army is an utterly aesthetical design (I know, there's a risk of being labled a bad guy for calling a gun a beauty)

Ok, this is the Internet but there it is again - the same GD’d statement on nine wheels.  You make me think of Psalms 115,  SOG.

Let’s do an experiment. The next time you take a commercial flight, put one  unloaded (!) in your carry-on luggage,  let them scan the bag,
find the not a firearm and then let us know when you get out of jail.  The experience will be a real education for you.  As to felons, who can  only use one as a club … I won’t even bloody start.

As they say in Kraut:

Hi Len.  You can call Colt 60’s “beautiful” if you want to.  I’ve been doing that since I was about nine.  My own appreciation of their aesthetic qualities rages undiminished.  Those 61’s ain’t too shabby either.

Those were my first identification.
In fourth grade, I was looking up colts (the equus kind) in an encyclopedia and came upon Colonel Sam - with illustrations.  Life would never be the same again.

Oh yeah!! I have an 1860 with that sheriff barrel and I bought a spare 7.5 to suit whatever mood I'm in. That's a nice one. I think I saw one on Jedediah maybe about the same price. Can't remember. Thank you for the Old South link. I've never been to that one👍👍

Wecsog. Here it is on J Starr. A little cheaper. I think it's the same but not sure. If I'm not mistaken they do not charge tax either.

Very early on, I think the Colt factory put out some 1860s with 7 1/2 inch barrels. Very few though, even the McCulloch Colt was 8 inches.
The repros I have are all 8 inches.  That’s standard 1860.
Get your ruler out, Zulch.
