Asian Barbecue Sauce
« on: August 18, 2015, 03:09:53 PM »
Smoking my first batch of St. Louis ribs in the new smoker set-up for guests we have coming over tonight. I'm using this sauce to go with them.

Asian Barbecue sauce

Ingredients

2 teaspoons sesame oil
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
¼ cup lime juice
1/2 cup soy sauce
¼ cup Kraken rum
1 cup ketchup
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon grated ginger root
¾ cup white onion, finely chopped
Ground dried chili pepper to taste (optional)

Directions

Add all ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a low boil. Then drop to a simmer until thickened as desired. If you want a hot barbecue sauce, add ground dried chili pepper of the desired variety until it meets your heat level. I usually smoke dried jalapenos and grind them to add to the sauce.
