Old and New

Here are two of the Pocket Police model revolvers, one old and one new.

Let's start with the older one.  Imported by Replica Arms, Marietta Ohio, this one was built in 1972 and has a three digit serial number.  It is the oldest Pocket Police I have.  I like the longer barrel, 6 1/2".  The mainspring on this is a bit easier to draw than on a couple of the newer ones.

This is a newer copy of the Pocket Police and was built in 1998.  It carries no importers mark so I do not know who brought it over from Italy.  It does sport the "fire blued finish" and looks nice.  The fire blue does not go well with the washed out case colors.

As much as I like fluted cylinders and the Pocket Police overall looks, I am not sure about its own half fluted cylinder. I feel a plain cylinder might have looked even better on it.
I tried to put the cylinder from my Euromanufacture Pocket Navy onto my Uberti Pocket Police, but the arbor is too large and won't have it. Maybe if you have both a Uberti Navy Pocket and a Uberti Police Pocket you might try and show us the result.

I too have a Replica Arms '62 Police with a 6 1/2 inch barrel.  Mine was built in 1971 and now that you mention it,  I looked at the serial number and of course it is 3 digit also.    I don't have a newer one but the main spring on mine is much lighter than any of the other later model Uberti revolvers I have.
I consider this '62 Police one of the nicest revolvers I have.

Are you planning on getting a holster, or do you have one already? Very nice revolvers too. I like the barrel length, it fits.

Mike, it looks like that is a brass framed something in that holster or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

DD1, actually, I have not given much thought to a holster.  I use the Mexican carry when I go out with one of them.  Or the old IRA holster.

The revolver in the holster is an 1862 Pocket.  The only brass parts on it are the trigger guard and backstrap,  the frame, barrel and loading lever are all polished steel.   The grips are extra fat ones I made from Mexican Bocote wood.
