Karma?
« on: August 16, 2013, 10:59:57 PM »
So...what's this 'Karma' shit all about?
Simple, my friend No shit about it!
If you like what somebody's sayin', or think they deserve a little pat on the back for whatever reason; slip a little Positive Karma their way!
If, however, you think the offender is a Total Jackwagon, let him and the Rest Of The Civilized World know by slipping a little Negative Karma his way. Some folks wouldn't know a snake if it bit 'im on the ass. But they recognize negative Karma when it knocks on the door!
BTW....negative karma 'subtracts' from a positive rating, and vice-versa.
Now that you know what it is, go forth and brandish your weapon!

Hi Captain, I noticed this thread after I made a suggestion post, see:

Not every tool in a message board tool box needs to be used.

Hi Captain, let me be a little more specific. The problem I see and feel is that Karma rates a person, not the information content of a post. Now if you had a tool that rated just the specific post, that could be helpful for people using the threads as an archive to help find the most useful information in that thread.

Regards,
Richard

I say, if someone is posting something good...give this person a good Karma point.  ;)

I don't see it as a personal rating but rather a way to express agreement with an idea/statement or show displeasure with an idea/statement.  I do agree with Richard that with the way it is displayed under the avatar it could be misconstrued by some as a personal rating.

I would like to note that I don't think I've seen any bad karma given out since I've been here.

Nor have I. Also have not seen any members thus far that would use it in such a fashion. We have a pretty good crew here.
The topic is under review by the mods on the board here.

I don't see anything wrong with it.
