I bought this used a few years ago, shot it a bit and put it away. I feel the need to blow the cobwebs out of the bore again!

Good looking rifle, I like the idea of the chambering, 45 long Colt.  The 1873 has been a favorite of mine ever since I saw the Jimmy Stewart movie.  I have handled and shot quite a few but never owned one, original or replica.  Enjoy it, what loads are you considering?

Very nice Mazo.  Uberti does a good job on their reproduction rifles.   The 1873 is still on my list of wants.   .45 Colt or 44 WCF either way would suite me fine.

Kevin, I shoot mostly black powder loads, but will (and have shot) load some light smokeless loads also.

I finally broke down and bought one of these last year. Love the gun! It is quite accurate. Mine is 44-40. I shoot only black in the cartridges. I find cleaning to be a snap. I am not getting any blowback into the chamber as my friend does with his in 45 Colt. I am guessing the little bit of bottle neck may be sealing it. Anyone have thoughts on this. Anyway, using a white cloth in the chamber area, I do not get even a tiny bit of discoloration on the wiping cloth.

I originally sighted it in at 50 yards. Tried it at 100. It is dead on. Of course it no doubts is lacking a lot of punch at that range! ha

I still don't have an 1873.  I'm not sure why I haven't looked harder for one.   I do have a Henry in 44WCF that has plenty of punch at 100 yards.

I run a rossi 92 saddle ring carbine 20" barrel in 45colt for SASS. light, accurate and reliable to boot! I love that rifle!

p.s. it will handle "ruger only" loads so it's good for bear country self defense

I just recieved a Winchester Davidsons special in 45 Colt. She wears a 16 inch tube and is oh so easy to handle and shoot. She wears the ladder rear sight and the front is a soldered block with the pinned blade. I opened up the rear sight for these old peepers and now she shoots like a charm.

Yes the 55 Colt smokes back round the straight walled case but i am not sure the soot makes its way back into the trigger/linkage area. She sure likes the 35 grain 3Fg Old E powder under my Lee 255 grain bullets smeared with SPG lube. I also find the chamber is tighter then the 92 i have.

All in all i like her but not as much as my original article 38WCF with its 24 inch oct barrel.
