Which rifle?
« on: May 24, 2016, 06:51:40 AM »
The wife and I rearranged the bedroom. Now I have a place to display a rifle on the wall.

So - which one?

1 - Cookson Doglock Fowler
2 - Antonio Zoli Harper's Ferry M1803
3 - Sharon Hawken
4 - Pedersoli Pennsylvania Rifle
5 - Armi Sport Springfield M1842

The 1803 is one of my favorite military rifles.  The first on built at Harper's Ferry and one of the best looking military rifles of all time.  I have one built in the 70s and refinished a couple of times.  Here is a picture.

I use a loose fitting ball and double patch.  In the field, I have the option of using one patch when fouling makes it hard to load.

You make choosing very difficult. My solution would be for you to number the rifles. Next, send all of the rifles to me. Then tell me what number I am thinking of. I will let you know in a timely manner if you chose the correct number and return to you the "winning" rifle for proper display.  L@J 8)

The Harper's Ferry...

EM

This gets my vote.  I see yours shares with mine the loss of the brass band on the forestock.

I say change/show them all,  a 2 or 3 month rotation might work well.     Barring that the Cookson is one fine looking piece if you want to have the same one up all the time.

Hi Mike, that's what I would do if I didn't have the room to display them all.

Regards,
Richard

Or maybe rotate them each time we change the banner photo.  Make it easier to remember.
