Rusty double barrel

This is the second gun that was left here Sunday. It is an American Gun Co. double 12 ga. Right now it is resting in the basement with Kroil being applied every little bit. So far, no movement of the barrels....

It was made by Crescent for H&D Folsom from 1892-1931

IIRC, Crescent made numerous guns that were branded by hardware stores, other gun companies, etc.

492 brand names I know of but they were owned by H&D Folsom.

I haven't paid a lot of attention to this gun as I have been occupied with other projects. But, the hammers are now free as are the triggers. Breech is still stuck.

As I said, I haven't paid much attention to this ol' gun lately as I am working on too many other things. But.....the breech/barrels are now operational. Still needing a good cleaning with oil and 0000 steel wool.

I haven't worked on that gun in over 3 years now; too many other irons in the fire. The forearm pops right off but the barrels are still stuck. I haven't checked to see if the locking lug is moving enough to release them. This will be a long time project as it needs a buttstock too, along with the metal refinishing/cleaning. I do love bringing neglected guns back to life though!

If you're in no hurry soak the breech in a bucket of kerosene for a month or three. It worked on a 92 Winchester that had been buried for God knows how long. It will leach through the seam in a metal bucket and once it does it will never hold kerosene again without leaking but it will hold gas without leaking.

Yeah, I have plastic, rubber, rawhide, wooden, and lead hammers! Just depends on how much frustration I need to get rid of.
