Well, I have 3 .36cal cylinders loaded up. Been about 4 months.

They are loaded with just powder and a round ball. No lube. Caps are on.

My only experience with long term ‘storage’ is on a .44 Rem cylinder.  Thirty grains Pyro P, dry lubed felt wad (Cabela’s), .454 with just a little lube on the top circumference where the lead meets the cylinder.  Capped with #10 CCI and no special storage.

Went 16 months and then shot all 5 rounds without a hitch.

Loaded up a '61 in similar fashion and after about 90 days it shot just fine.

The corrosion conversations about Pyrodex only occures after firing..... yes ?

Correct, Hewy.  No corrosion occurs from unfired Pyrodex.

Pyrodex will weaken over time. Just sayin'...
If I was gonna leave a cylinder loaded, it would be with 3F and unlubed wads.

I was given a CVA Hawken that I know had been loaded for at least 10 years and stored in a broom closet in the washroom next to the hot water heater. I capped it and fired it and it fired without a hitch. 90 grains of Pyrodex RS and a Maxi ball at least that was the only powder in the house and the measure was set on 90 grains and the only bullets were maxi's.

Can't say. In put a half pound of P away at the end of a shooting season. Next spring it was noticeably weaker than a new pound.
I have not heard this complaint about black powder.
