Question: Pietta new production 1860 grips ?
« on: October 11, 2016, 07:40:00 AM »
Has the new  grips for the 1860 changed to the more Colt shaped grips?
Pietta did make the change with the 1851 Navy in 2016 date code CP and maybe 2015 date code CN.

Hi Hewy, IMO recent Pietta 1860 grips are consistent with the previous years grips. While there was an issue with the Pietta 1851 grips of the past, I think that the Pietta 1860 grips are similar to original Colts.

Richard do you have an 1860 Army ? Just curios.
I haven't seen one ,other than photos can't tell about the grips.
I know the 1851 Navy changed , I have a new 2015 with the "improved shape"

I doubt they change them. The 60 doesn't have the extreme flare the navies did.

Hi Hewy, I have three Pietta 1860s and one new one for my son-in-law for this coming Christmas. (don't tell him) The grips all look the same. Have many extra cylinders and two .45 Colt conversion cylinders. The Pietta 1860 is a nice repo revolver.

Richard

Nice to know, I'm on my way Friday to pick up a new one and
wanted to be sure.
My two Navies are a 1978 Navy Arms, and a 2015 Pietta
both have no tail flare. Also have a  Brasser looks like the Navy but is .44  I really like it as a shooter,
but the tail flare is .....well out there     (7+"  "so I think I will rework it.

Boy howdy and Amen.

One son just got a new Pietta Sixty and the grip frame is just like the older ones (’96, ’97 & ‘05) that I have.  The wood is a little thicker though but it’s same grip frame and shape.  Man, I just love those things.
