I build cabinets in my "other life" away from leather and black powder. There is a lumber company in Denver that has a lot exotic woods that I buy things from occasionally. I found a piece of Lacewood there in the bargain bin. It's big enough for several knife handles and maybe 8 or 10 sets of grips. I'm going to try some grips next.
I don't think Lace wood is popular with knife or stock makers since it is a little on the soft side. It's easy to work with though and looks pretty good. It looks better in larger pieces.
