Differences between '51 and '61
« on: December 01, 2016, 03:57:53 PM »
I have never handled a '51 Navy.  I have a '61 Navy.   The '61 feels, actually heavier than the '60 Army.  The army feels light and nimble.  Due, in part to the slender grip I reckon.  The Navy feels squatty and with heft.  Simply not as nimble.

Is there any feeling difference between the two?

Since the Army has bigger holes (less metal), less of a frame (cut water table for rebated cyl) but essentially the same as the Navy, you end up with a visually larger revolver that feels light and "easy to handle"!

I like the weight of the Navy personally but, the Dragoon still is the " top dog (or horse!)" for me !

The '51 Navy has a feel of it's own. I can't explain it. But when you look at a distant object, close your eyes and raise the gun and point, when you open your eyes you are usually dead nuts on. It's kind of creepy, actually. Almost like there was a magnet in the muzzle. Hickok swore by them.
