Ok, next question...

How long does it take you to reload a cap and ball pistol using powder and ball?

Anyone have any experience using paper cartridges. If so, how long to reload using those?

I don't get in a hurry but I just timed it with loose powder, wad, ball and using a powder measure at 2 minutes 10 seconds. Paper cartridges maybe a minute. Capping time without a capper included. Oh and loaded all six chambers.

Two minutes sounds about right.  I can usually reload both my pistols in the time it takes for two shooters after me in a SASS match.

Hi Electric, I suspect you are taking about loading on the revolver? I reload a dozen cylinders in 1/2 hour using my Tower of Power reloading tool. Then changing out cylinders takes only a few seconds at the range. While I had my son-in-law reload his cylinder on the revolver for training, I may have only a couple of times used reloading on the revolver. That sucks. I like shooting more than screwing around with loading C&B cylinders.

Johnnie on the Remington message board said that he simply boils the exhausted cylinders. I put anti seize on the nipples and now clean using the Johnnie method. I do follow up with baking in an oven at 250 degrees F for 1/2 hour to ensure that all the water is removed. The chambers are super clean and bright after cleaning and ready for reloading.

Regards,
Richard

Yes, loading on the gun. There's very little evidence for carrying extra cylinders in the field, historically.
