Hewy has gone rogue
« on: August 12, 2017, 09:33:56 AM »
Hi, Hewy has gone rogue on us. I saw a photo of his on the Remmy board where he shows a 5.5" 1858 Remington. While the 1858 Remington is probable the best BP revolver ever produced, showing a photo of an 1858 is unconscionable.

Maybe he hasn't learned that once you go Colt, you never look back?

I am so disappointed in Hewy.  ;)

Anybody got a strong rope we can use?

Regards,
Richard

I know he's been buying some Colt molds lately so hopefully he isn't going to be gone long...lol.

No Remington's for me tho, purely a Colt guy.

Remington's are fine guns. I enjoy both Colt's and Remington's. Lately I have been shooting a 3rd Model Dragoon with 32 grains of 3F or 37 grains of 2F, plus Cream of Wheat filler with both loads. The chambers have been hogged out to where a .457 ball is almost too small and it really smacks the steel, it seems to have significantly more knockdown power.

Yep, ol Hewy's a deplorable - irredeemable too.

Yet I do love a Rem;

Then I guess I just am.

I started out with a Remington many moons ago. Wouldn't look twice at a Colt. Then I broke down and bought one and the Remingtons got used a lot less but I still wouldn't look twice at a .36. Then I broke down and bought one. Now about all I shoot is my Colt navy. I still have three Remingtons but none have felt the heat of combustion in years.

You bought one of them. I ran out, so had to refill the blank spot. (7+"

Hi, I have 16 Remingtons, but mostly use them to counterbalance some of the Colt weight in my gun safe. Once you go Colt, you never go back.

Hewy has yet to ask forgiveness, doesn't anyone have a rope?   ;)

Richard

I've got plenty of rope but it would be a bit hypocritical for me to provide the rope when I have 6 Remington models and enjoy shooting most of them.

Hi Hewy, I once was lost, but now I'm saved, Colt. This message board has a "Brand X" folder. Why didn't you post your Remmy photo there? Too embarrassed?

A Pot? Yeah, guess I am.  I gota break out some of those great 1858s and blow some smoke through them again. But I may not know what to do shooting without a cap jam. Maybe I should stuff in a half dozen caps under the 1858 cylinder so as to not miss the allure of Colt jams?  &\? &\? &\?

Richard

Embarerassed ? who me na. I listed it on the Remington forum cuss it's
a Remington. When a Colt, I post on the Colt Country. Those I have about 10 and one Remington
and one Spiller & Burr
As a politician would say: Let me be clear, I love them Colts they are a pleasure to shoot and have.
From the large 1848 Dragoon to the tiny 1849 Pocket, Colt made many model variations over the years,
Remington not so much.
My main reason for getting the new 5.5" Remy , I have been following your Colt conversion models with great
interest and your results are perfect . However with my limited machining ability, I have been considering a Howell drop in conversion.
Redemption you spoke of, that ain't going to happen, the only thing I redemed was green stamps way back
when............
Like cars and motorcycle I love em all , can't have all so I do what I do and have fun.
I think you and I need a Whiskey together ($!
