The Thuer loads from the muzzle end it was an attempt to get around the White patent on bored through cylinders. This one us a true copy, the other one, much as I like it and would like one sometime, doesn't

Nice job they did

I bet I read this article 20 times over the last couple years.   This is a Cadillac whereas my drop-in model is a Chevette.   The cost of this conversion would be well into the thousands as compared to $250 for Gary Barnes' Drop-In Thuer conversion.   Gary's design mimics the look of the Thuer while maintaining the convenience of using .45 Colt standard cases and rear loading chambers.

Yup and Gary's design is really cool and I would like one someday. I wasn't knocking it just thinking of all the work to make this one. They even did the loading tools

This write is up what made me decide to call Gary.  I wanted a Thuer look without the expense of a custom gunsmith job.  Gary's version hit the mark.   I have a candidate in mind for when Gary is able to make a rear loading six shot version of his Thuer conversion.   Taylors holds the rights to the slant bored six shot cylinder for another year or so.

Loading tools are an essential part of the Centaur Thuer project.  If they didn't provide a way to make cartridges the gun would be an expensive curiosity.    Nedbal really does a nice job on these,   I don't know what one would cost but I'm sure I can't afford it.

Yes,   Gary's .36 cal version is 6 shot.   I almost went for that instead of the '60 Army in .45

I believe the conversion for Navy models is 38 LC.  It is a 6 shot Drop-In.   Click the link to see a photo on his Facebook page.
