Hi, I came across a nice accessory for pellet guns, pellet loaders:

.22:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0053Y1H9G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

.177:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Z4JGL8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you have fat fingers like me, you will appreciate these tools. They work very well.

Regards,
Richard

Something like that would be awesome for my Buckmark break barrel pistol!

Hi, I saw this interesting item on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/crosman-MONOCORE-ldc-1377-2240-2250-2400kt/182879218523?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

It's called an LDC (Lead-Dust-Collector)  (7+" (7+" (7+"

The rules on these devices is iffy considering the strict federal suppressor rules. It's made of plastic where it couldn't be used on a firearm and pellet guns aren't considered firearms by the feds. I understand that Crosman made these devices, but got scared off by the feds. See:

https://www.google.com/search?q=crosman+monocore&tbm=isch&source=iu&pf=m&ictx=1&fir=89Z0rLGk6dfeCM%253A%252CS_xU595n5AEkfM%252C_&usg=__19d0Owrjcm_vEvW1tWCY8v-ebAY%3D&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj1kNOg-7vXAhVCJiYKHSapBuIQ9QEIKjAA#imgrc=89Z0rLGk6dfeCM:

Who ever said that pellet guns were dull?  L@J L@J

Richard

Hi, I tested the sound level from both a .177 and .22 Crosman 2240 with a 10.1" barrel using this device:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/crosman-MONOCORE-ldc-1377-2240-2250-2400kt/182879218523?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

A sound level meter was used to test the sound level one foot from the muzzle using this sound meter:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M67N973/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The results:
.177 without Monocore = 109dBA
.177 with Monicore = 102dBA
.22 without Monocore = 109 dBA
.22 with Monocore = 105dBA

I'm a bit disappointed in the results, but know that a 3dBA reduction is half the sound power. Using the Monocore does reduce the perceived sound level, a good thing.

BTW, the pellet impact sound on the backstop measured 90dBa 30 feet from the muzzle close to the backstop.

I have seen reports of other sound reducing devices where the sound reduction is much more. Maybe the low cost of the Monocore is consistent with the low price?

Inquiring minds needed to know.

Regards,
Richard

have you tried to diesel it?

Regards, Richard

Will dieseling jack up the gun?  I understand it will mess with the seals and gaskets.  I've not tried that on the Umarex Browning Buckmark here; it's too much fun to risk any damage.  What’s the view?

Hi G Dog, I just noticed your post. IMO worst case is that you need to replace some of the o-rings and seals. However, even with dieseling nobody will turn their pellet gun into a .44 Magnum.  ;)

If I still had a air gun I would give it a try. I gave my pump Crosman to my son-in-law. I'll have to see if he will give it a try.

Regards,
Richard

Hi, the bare muzzle of the Crosman 2240s looked unfinished. I made three brass muzzle pieces to jazz up the end of the barrels, see:

Always been a Sheridan fan
Blue streak, Silver streak but always 5 mm.
Stumbled upon a Beeman R-9, again in .20 caliber, and man this baby shoots!
Mounted a Nikko-Stirling Nighteater and can religiously hit a penny at 25 yds

I know this is an old thread. I just wanted to say thanks to Richard for all the info on the Crosman 2240. It's been on my want list since he posted about it. Well... last night I was dead tired from all the gravel moving and found the link I had for Pyramid Air and specifically the 2240. Then I went to several other air gun forums and "accidently" hit the purchase button. Then I meandered to the TKO moderator web site and "accidentally" bought a suppressor. Then a front site and of course a steel breech.

Good thing I'll be out of town when it all arrives next week. My 45th wedding anniversary is coming up next weekend....I'll figure out a way to make it a "shared" anniversary present.......or not....lol.

Just excited to get it and do some back yard plinking.....

Thanks again Richard!

Accidentally??!!  (7+" That's great Mick, and congratulations on the 45th Anniversary. That is a milestone. Maybe you can share some pics when things settle down a bit. Z

I just may do that.....if I'm still alive. The price of the pistol was only $70....but I think I have close to twice that price that in goodies. But like Richard mentioned....everything is relatively inexpensive...and I "may" have gone a little overboard on goodies...

I've had a couple of CO2 powered guns and was not enamored with them. I'd rather have a pump but a Benjamin pump like I want is around 400.00

Yup...definitely some drawbacks to CO2. But for punching paper in the backyard it should serve its purpose well. The 2240 is highly rated, very accurate and inexpensive. Hard to beat at under $70.
