I have soooooo many that I like. I try to make the kitchen easy
here's my baked beans you can start with any can of beans even pork and beans from the shelf but traditional you start from scratch
I have a 1 qt crock pot
pour 2 cups of white navy beans (or great northern) in pot
add water to cover beans an inch or so if you like salt add 1/2 teaspoon
turn to high a cook all night turn heat down before bed to warm morning continue to cook until beans are tender remove let cool
I have wire mesh strainers put one over an empty empty pot, pour the beans and water into the strainer save the water
rinse beans with fresh water put back into the crockpot add enough of the saved fluid to just cover the beans
1tsp dry mustard or 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1/4# salt pork or bacon (like I said make it easy) diced up bite size pieces
1/2 cup diced onion
2/3 cup brown sugar brown sugar goes hard in no time
so you can grate a cup or steam it till soft or make your own I make my own as I need it.
2 table spoon molasses to 1 cup sugar
put all that in crockpot and stir add another 1/4 cup of molasses
cover crock pot set on high to get everything hot then turn to low stir now and then so beans don't stick to pot, taste test.
beans should be soft but not mushy. If tastes right eat for supper,
But they get better if you cook them again
looks like a lot of work but it isn't only 5 ingredients and you can add more or less molasses as you want
Taken this to potlucks several times always comes back empty
