Another Misrepresentation On GB
« on: December 12, 2017, 02:00:14 PM »
Here's a High Standard G&G with a squareback TG (?) that is going for $350. Once again someone has needlessly beat up the wedge, torn up the screw slot on the wedge screw, and all of the other slots seem untouched. The cylinder/bolt timing is terrible.

Maybe those guys are looking for squarebacks as any 1851 Navy repros with that TG are hard to find these days, and I am partial to them.

I know it is marked G&G by HS but it is not historically correct. If you are a collector of HS C&B revolvers it may be of interest. Less than 4 hours remaining to bid.

My fantasy 1851 Navy .36 Dragoon. Part octagon/part round barrel, plain cylinder, and SB TG.

That looks like a Leech & Rigdon somebody adapted a Colt trigger guard to.  *6'

Here is a short-barreled G&G that appears to be in nice shape. Price seems to be a bit steep.

I like your emoticon! Based upon our previous conversations here, I am sure you know that it was originally a 2014 [CM] "tail" Pietta, and it has a Pietta G&G part octagon/part round barrel, the G&G plain cylinder. The SB TG was ordered from Taylor's back in the day, and it was the last one they had back then to fit the that grip profile. Everything after 2014 had a different grip profile and, thus, different parts as you know.

To my knowledge, Pietta never produced a Leech and Rigdon. I have one but it can only be made by swapping barrel, cylinder, and frame with other pistols, all Pietta.

I am that "somebody".

I still wish that Sam Colt had produced a pistol like that, but alas. It is still my favorite "fantasy" 1851 Navy .36.

Have a good evening, Hawg!

Jim

Pietta used to make Leech and Rigdon replicas.  Not sure when they dropped them from the product line though.

I wonder, did the original Leech & Rigdon even have color case hardening?

Good question.  Yes.

See Jaxenro’s excellent site    ---
