Yeah,  I think storage and climate may make a difference.  I don't do anything to my brass just wipe with Ballistol and let it be.
By the way,   I like the smell of Ballistol.

I don't think anybody said it wasn't a good product. I just can't deal with the smell.

I’m no fan of that aroma either but that doesn’t keep me from using it.  I’d rather get Ballistol on my hands than some of those chemmy solvents.  It’s safe around stocks and grips and leather too, which is a nice thing.  Except for the smell, the stuff is great.

The Germans used it on their Waffen all through the Big Wars.

Industrial strength ammonia works best on copper but that smell is almost as bad as Balistol and it will remove bluing. The best thing for lead is a piece of Chore Boy copper scrubbing pad wrapped around a bronze brush.  Don't like ranch dressing either. I like French or Russian but my preference is Bleu Cheese.

Indeed Hawg, the chore boy bronze brush does work well most times. Not so well though on these old pitted and corroded original bores that I shoot on a regular basis.
On those I just leave the lead in the pits.
