The USFA Colt revolvers often appear nicer than the actual Colt revolvers.   Prices on USFA revolvers are now nearly on par with some 1st and 2nd gen Colts.   If I could afford one I would certainly have at one in my collection. 

Very nice Mazo,  you're fortunate to own one.

Really nice mazo!
I remember reading years ago, on some black powder forum, that USFA did, or was going to make 1851 Navy revolvers. They also had some kind of deal to make 1858 Remington cap and ball pistols for Remington, but the deal fell through.

I believe they did make a Remington, priced around $800.00 way back then.

No they said they were going to make 58's, 75's and 1911's. They made Four or five 58's and three 75's then the owner got carried away with his zip gun that didn't work.

Well, they HAD a good thing going, very nicely finished guns. Then the owner went off on a tangent and everything went down the tube. IMO, these guns are much better finished than my 3rd Gen. Colt.

That is a fine looking gun Mazo. USFA made extremely good products. I believe they started off importing whole guns from Italy(mostly Uberti but some Armi San Marco) in the white, disassembling them, polishing, fitting, timing and finishing them in the USA. Case colors were real bone-charcoal sometimes by Turnbull sometimes by others. Then they started importing parts from Italy and mixing them with USA made parts. Finally, they started making them with 100% USA parts with everything except the springs and possibly some grips made completely in-house. The 100% USA made guns are supposed to be incredible, they have been compared favorably to Freedom Arms.
