Doak, ya need to be slugging 100% Pineapple juice!
It'll stop the attack and dissolve the crystals.

Doak,
Welcome! I see that you're a member of the Ruger Old Army Club on the High Road like I am.
My biggest concern is that when I pass away, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

You're welcome Doak!
Pineapple is the only fruit that has Bromelain. Bromelain neutralizes uric acid and dissolves the crystals. I  had chronic gout, this is what cured me. It's fairly fast acting and it's easy as a maintenance for prevention. I haven't had the nasty pills for almost a year!! It's great!!

( Dole seems to taste best,  half a 46oz can through the day during an attack, a couple of cans a week for maintenance!! It will continue to reduce your store of uric acid and allow you to eat fun food again!! Shrimp, steak, burgers .  .  .   you know, Gods food .  .  .  .  .  .  )

Welcome! I'm new here too! Although I don't know everybody yet.
I've seen a couple familiar screen names tho...

Pineapple juice and gout. Who'd have guessed!

Learning all kinds of good stuff on these black powder boards!

If that's at me Captain, I was researching info unregistered (lurking) on a few forums just reading and following links guys posted with information and articles on the 1847 and 1858 and you mentioned this board to someone, your words were to the effect of "...if you want to shoot the Colts, you should check out our sister forum..." so I checked out the board you linked, and that board ended up leading me here. Anyway I was getting all caught up in information overload and decided I'd better start joining forums and bookmarking if I was that interested....errr... obsessed.... :-[  1858 Remington was first, then this one.
I got it bad guys. Went to Cabela's today just to price shop slings, soft cases, and other stuff for my modern rifles, and walked out of there with 2 Triple K holsters, just to protect them while they are in the safe, and when I transport them!  spent most of my time looking at muzzleloader pistols, kits, muzzleloader rifles, studied all the possibles, (or whatever you call the accessories) I did buy 100 brass cases for my 220 Swift also, but that was a quick guilt grab on the way out to the register.

If that wasn't at me, apologies for crapping all over Doak's welcome thread... (??
