Screwdrivers for Italian replicas
« on: February 23, 2018, 06:11:11 PM »
I bought a set of these on Ebay quite a while ago.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/202230641818?ViewItem=&item=202230641818
I've used them a lot for the past several months and have to say they are the best fitting screwdrivers I have used.   I have a set of Wheeler's multi tip drivers and a set that is branded by Winchester.   These Grace screwdrivers are far better than any of the other sets I have.   The tips are an exact fit for both Pietta and Uberti screws.
The Ebay vendor was sold out for several months but now has them back in stock.    I've checked and you can't buy these sizes from Grace in a set or individually.

You can't beat Grace. The Winchesters are cheap junk but do ok until you get a really tight screw

I had a set of Grace basic pistol screwdrivers that were great but not fitted to Italian screws like these.  My son ended up with that set.

Thanks Mike. That's a good price on this set.

Hi Mike, after getting the screwdriver bits that Fingers recommended, I have never looked back. See thread:

I looked at those when Fingers made that post.   I decided to look away from plastic multi bit sets and was looking for a nice set of Rosewood handled single bit drivers.   I found these instead and am very happy.   I have several leather tools with Rosewood handles that I really like.   I'm still searching for fancy handled screwdrivers but doubt I find any that work better than the Grace set.

Bishop Creek mentioned the Grace BP screwdriver set in the same thread.   I guess I wasn't paying attention then.

Did you contact Grace? They will sell you any size they have individually or just the shanks if you want to use your own handles and if you send them a set of screws they will match to them. I bought some shanks and set them in some traditional looking handles

No,  but I will.     I have several species of rosewood and several other exoctics I could make handles from.

Mike,
Is there a screwdriver in that set that's small enough to fit the little hand screw in a 1858?

Grace is a good USA family business can’t say enough about them. I emailed what I wanted and they sent them with an invoice trusting I would pay

Yeah, Brad.   One of the drivers is specifically made for the '58 hand screw.

I own the same set of Grace BP screwdrivers that Mike has pictured above. They work great on my Pietta's and Uberti's along with my Ruger Old Army.
My biggest concern is that when I pass away, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.
