I believe that's correct..... of course, that's only one of the Browning designs manufactured by Colt.

  Didja know he was a Mormon from Ogden, Utah 1855-1926?  His father was a gunsmith and John did some early apprentice work with him.  And then he did some Mormon missionary work in Georgia for a couple of years.  And then he decided he wanted to design his own guns, probably the most successful gun designer in the world.  Thank God for John Moses Browning and the 1911!

I didn't know that. I do know that this was one of his first designs, and my favorite of all. My 1885 High Wall

I didn't know that. I do know that this was one of his first designs, and my favorite of all. My 1885 High Wall

A few years back I saw a video of the M1895 machinegun firing - I read that the "potato-digging" swinging lever on the bottom of the gun is a carry-over from Browning's early experiments with a gas-operated Winchester -

Yep, you're right....but I didn't think the brass looked long enough for 50s.
