Dead eye Duke does the Walker
« on: September 08, 2018, 10:07:12 AM »
Hi, a new Walker video from Dead eye Duke:

What he doesn't understand is to fix the arbor length, fix the arbor length, fix the arbor.

Oh well, got to give him a lot of credit and respect for posting his videos.

Regards,
Richard

Other than him not understanding how the arbor controls the cylinder to barrel gap, a pretty good video.

I learned a couple things from that video.
1. I don't own a Walker and didn't know about that mainspring.
2. Didn't know about the trick of using the arbor and a patch to clean the chambers.

Got to hand it to ol Deadeye, he’s an honest fellow.  Sometimes he’ll miss eleven out of twelve times and that was the session, hit or miss it goes in the vid.

Just a plain jag and finger pressure would be better otherwise one is going to be picking that patch from the bottom of the chamber every time.  I may be overly protective of the arbor and don’t want it to do any work it’s not already doing.  Still though, a Patterson loads with the arbor so maybe it’s OK

Was it a patch or a wad? A patch stuck thru the wedge slot would come out. Or is the fit too close between chamber and arbor?

He used neither in the video, but mentioned a cleaning patch could be used with the arbor to clean the chambers.
