I've come to appreciate Tom Selleck a lot more since I started this thread.

He is definitely up there. I wish they made more Sackett movies.

Hawg- Amen to that. The world could use a few more Sackett movies.

in no particular order, Costner, Duvall, Selleck, Eastwood, Wayne, Elliott, Russell, and his old man (EDIT!!!! I was mixing Kurt Russell from Tombstone, and Michael Douglas from Snowy...)(the Man from Snowy River is one of my favorites).. I'll come back to this with an edit.

On a side note, the casting of the players for Hell on Wheels, couldn't have been any more perfect.

I hated Thor Gunderson/the Swede but Christopher Heyerdahl played the part perfectly. I can't imagine anybody else pulling off that part.

I agree 100% with both of those statements. Hell On Wheels is one of my favorite "western" type shows.

Dramatic 'suspension of belief' is fine sometimes but that 1860 brass Griswold killed it for this onetime viewer.  I've not been back.

They only used it in the first season. There are plenty of brass framed revolvers but they don't draw attention to them the way they did the 1860 G&G. It's a really good show and no worse than any other western where the brass frames are concerned.

Yeah, that was definitely a bummer. But it's no worse than most old west shows I've seen lately. It seems that the brass framed Navy has supplanted the SAA as the most used used gun in Hollyweird.

The show redeemed itself with a great story. So I forgave the initial use of a gun that never existed. I've watched the series 3 times now, all the way through, and I'll likely watch it again. I may even wear my bowler while doing so.

It ended after five seasons.
