Marlin guality current manufacture.

I hear quality fit finish etc is not up to snuff. That true lately ?

I recently  purchased a new Marlin model 94 in .45 Colt and it is a fine example.  The fit is good, the barrel had nice rifling and the action is smooth with a good trigger pull.  I plan to use it on deer and hogs this fall with 255 grain Lee RNFP bullets I cast of water quenched wheel weights on top of a near max charge of Win 296/H110 the same as I shoot in my Rossi .45 rifles.  In my selection of scopes I had a 20 or so year-old Leupold re-make of the old Lyman Alaskan 2.5 X 3/4" scope with matching rings and base to fit the marlin.  It looks good and should do OK for my aged eyes.  GF

Good to hear your positive review. I'm at the toss up stage between Marlin 94 vs Henry both in 45 Colt.
Price wise the Marlin is about $75 less than the Henry. The Henry is not the new  version
( side loading port ). I'm Ok with that. Henry seemed to be a stand alone style, not making a replica of an original , except the 1860 Henry they do make.

My only experience with a new Marlin is a SS model 60 I bought 6 or 7 years ago. Wood to metal fit is fair, finish is good. I don't like the plastic trigger guard but mechanically it's excellent.

The new Marlins (a.k.a "Remlins") have a poor rep on the street as well as on the Marlin forum. Apparently QC is VERY hit-or-miss or completely non-existent, though rumor has it the latest batch (since 2019) is improving. If I were you, I wouldn't buy a "Remlin" unless you've handled and test fired it, otherwise look for a good used J.Marlin or perhaps a Winchester or historical Uberti replica.

My other choice that ,I know well, is Henry shopping for a Big Boy in 45 Colt.
Already have two 22s.
Only reason I asked about Marlin , is my daughter has an early 45Colt  Marlin made in 1996.
Very sweet rifle . Found that the best were made in Conneticut before the company failure.

Very much true. My 336 was made mid-90s and is a piece of art.
I've heard very good things about the New Henry rifles, other than the price tags.

Capt, I think the price is very fair for what they are, that is excellently made. You used the words New Henry,
assume your referring to the new models made with a side loading gate. I'm not getting one of those.
I have no interest in a Henry with a side loading gate.
Henry is not a copy of a Winchester however are their own design, I believe ,based loosely on the original 1860 Henry.
$800 is a good price made in the USA.........insert a thumbs up here.
