Pietta 51 colt

Had my Peitta with the 38 cartridge cylinder along today so have it a workout.

4 grains TB under a 148 gr hollow base wad cutter. This old girl just keeps delivering for me. 45 shots at 10 yds.

Wow! That's pretty darn accurate for a .38 conversion. Makes me want to rethink getting one for mine.

Trick to accuracy with this conversion is low power loads. I was overloading these hollow base bullets and always thought something was wrong. I stumbled on the secret by loading some trail boss at 4 grains behind the 148 grain hollow base wad cutters. These are very mild and a TON of fun. The cleanup is super easy .

All in all I do not think I could ever take enough of these to the range with me.  I aim to get a conversion cylinder for my Colt second gen as soon as I find out which one works on it.

Uberti version fits.

Nice shooting.

Are you left handed? I am and I find my groups end up in similar spot on my targets.

Nope ... right handed. Shot off a rest so pretty sure the revolver is off to the right with these wadcutters. Seems like the paper carts in percussion mode shot slightly to the left with balls. Can not recall for sure.

These wad cutters are very fun to shoot though.

I am left handed and one handed, offhand my shots tend to hit low and right with a revolver that has been proven to shoot to point of aim. Sometimes I actually shoot better with my right hand.

Hi Lee, what 38 Special conversion cylinder conversion are you doing? The gated Howell conversion?
