Cheater Colt grips?

How tacky would it be to buy say an Uberti clone and then put aftermarket rampant colt grips on it?
Punishments deserved for anyone doing that?

If it was for me, IK definitely wouldn't worry about what anyone else thought. I love that look. I think the only time you might raise somebodies ire is if oyu tried to pass it off as a Colt.....

Not tacky at all, and no punishments deserved.

I've seen many clones wearing Colt grips. Everyone knows it's a clone, so we aren't fooling anyone. The objective is to get our guns to look as close to the original as possible, so they have the feel of the originals. If you wanna put real Colt grips on your clone, go for it!!!

And by the way, pictures will be required, or it didn't happen.

Pretty much anything goes with reproductions.  Just don't try to pretend a reproduction is an authentic Colt.

With mine, I’ll continue to “pretend”  anyway.  It’s an effortless imaginative process and no one will miss any sleep or even loose money - a harmless conceit.

Talking about pretending it's a Colt when trying to sell or trade.     Maybe should say "misrepresent" a reproduction.

Thanks, all... will have to give it some thought. It's an Uberti 1873 clone but they make so many so buying from long range probably full of pitfalls...
