Queen Ann pistol kit
« on: March 31, 2020, 08:29:05 AM »
Hi, not to let mold grow on me, I ordered the Pedersoli Queen Ann pistol kit:

https://www.dixiegunworks.com/index/page/product/product_id/8395/category_id/326/category_chain/312,325,326/product_name/FH0421+Pedersoli+Queen+Anne+Pistol+Kit

A couple of nice Queen Ann videos:

I look forward to finishing this kit.

Regards,
Richard

Agreed, as much as you say you don't like to build kits, you do finish them very nicely!

Hi, the Queen Ann kit will arrive soon. To get ready for that pistol and displaying it, I ordered a couple of more gun hangers:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MQDSW5N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They hangers will be mounted in my primitive pistol collection space.

Richard

Hi, the Pedersoli Queen Ann pistol kit arrived yesterday. It comes with an extra set of blued screws. The barrel is in the white with some minor superficial external rust. The lock is also in the white. I am seriously considering nitre blueing the bare steel parts. Most photos of an original Queen Ann show the metal in the white, but I have seen some photos of blued Queen Ann:

The trigger pull of this pistol is extremely heavy. It will require some work to improve the pull.

Regards,
Richard

Hi, the Pedersoli Queen Ann pistol was disassembled. I must admit that the lock of this pistol is a part that needs lots of work. The mainspring is too heavy and the sear spring is six times wider than necessary. Since I will probably nitre blue the steel parts the lock will be taken apart for tuning and bluing. The brass end cap will be left on the stock as the stock is worked on. That will have the brass end cap a perfect fit to the stock.

BTW, fu*k doing a boiled linseed oil finish job on the stock. I will finish the stock with Tru-Oil so I can easily finish the stock before I die of old age.

Regards,
Richard

I like TruOil for finishing stocks. That or real Tung oil thinned with mineral spirits to speed up drying time. I have used BLO but is time consuming.
