Letter stamp question
« on: April 19, 2020, 07:13:48 PM »
Hey guys. I'm in the market for a set of alpha-numeric stamps. I'd really like them to me 1/8' or smaller. Do you guys have a recommendation on where to get them?

I see them online, and the prices are all over the place. Just thought I'd ask if any of you have a preference.

If you want to stamp ID numbers and such on metal the Harbor Freight sets work fine as long as the metal is not really hard.   They also work on leather.    I think they come in three sizes.

Thanks Mike. I'll check them out.

I want them for a gun project. I'll probably only use them once or twice, so high quality isn't necessary. The ones from Harbor Freight will probably fit the bill.

Dave, I was going to offer to loan you my set for the cost of shipping. By the time you would have paid shipping both ways, you could have purchased 2 sets from HF. I mostly use my larger stamps to mark my casting ingots, WW, PB, 1-1, etc.

Thank you Sir, I appreciate the offer! I went ahead and ordered a set from HF. They were less than $20. I'm sure they're not the highest quality, but if they last long enough for my current project, they will have been worth the minuscule price.

Hey Guys,

I have two sets, 1/8" & 3/16". They were made in India, total junk.
I hate to admit I purchased a 1/4" set made in China, much better quality.
They really stamp nice even characters.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check mine when they arrive and let you know where they originated. For 17 bucks, I'd bet either of those places.
