Pietta 150 Anniversary 1860
« on: December 02, 2013, 04:45:56 PM »
Hi, has anyone ever seen this revolver up close and personal?

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Pietta-Model-150th-Anniversary-1860-Army-44-Caliber-Revolver/1167705.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3D1860%2Barmy%26x%3D14%26y%3D5%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=1860+army&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products

Does the gold just lay on top of the steel, or is the steel etched? Do you think that Pietta took any more time and effort (fit & finish) making the 150th Anniversary than their basic 1860?

Regards,
Richard

I have not handled or even seen one "in person"; that said I'm not much of a fan of commemorative guns of any persuasion.

Knowing what I know of Pietta, I would guess it's "gold inlay" of the sort you can buy from MidwayUSA or other gunsmithing supply houses....gold laden paint. As far as fit and finish....no. While Pietta's fit and finish has come into the modern age with the advent of CAM/CAD, I still find a lot of the inner workings very crude out-of-the-box and in need of attention.
