Beware of using a tap. The shank of a drill bit is soft where as the whole tap is hard. Full hard steel is easy to break off and a bear to get out of a hole if it gets stuck. You have to crumble them out with a carbide cutter in a milling machine.

The bit I used was 5/64”. I’m looking at #2 machine screw taps now. I always thought that would be better.

Loctite is different because it will only be keeping the threads for turning back out, instead of holding the entire pin in position. The threads are much stronger. And red loctite will keep the pin from spinning out very well...

That sounds like the best solution Ace.

You're right, Loc-Tite and JB Weld are two different things.

Very nice job Ace! Im a firm believer in cap rakes but also hammer sheilds that keep pesky cap fragments and fouling out of the works. I too install rakes on all my guns and guns that customers send to me. For those that done know what a hammer sheild is...heres a pic..

I'm liking those hammer shields.

OutlawKid, is that bottom gun a stainless Uberti Navy?

I sent a pair of Pietta 1851 Navy & a pair of 1860 Army revolvers to TheOutlawKid for his posts and shields. They came out great!

Here's a short video (2m41s) I made on the Navy revolvers.

Great video drobs!

I had OutlawKid do 4 of my guns at the same time. Just like you say, he did a great job.

He pops his head in around here sometimes.
