Just got home so much fun. Gonna have to run a thicker lube mix. Seemed fine at home but when you get out there if softens you’re real quick

Russell, is the Remington also a Navy (.36) caliber?
It’s a new army .44

Got to give a shameless plug to Ballistol. That stuff is amazing, takes all the fouling out easy. If you h met tried it I would recommend giving it a shot.

I can't handle the stench. Water works just as well.

It definitely has a funky smell, but you're right, it works. I clean mine with hot water and then lather them up in Balistol.

I'm with the Hawgmeister. Hot water and a little dish soap works wonders.

I'm glad you are enjoying your new "toys", that's what it is all about. And thanks for the pictures. We have a saying here....if there are no pictures, it never happened!

A few things after my first trip to the range......

The recoil with 25 grains in .44 was almost nothing, very manageable.

Black powder makes you very popular at the range, everyone has to come over and see what you’re shooting. The guy next to me offered me money if I would let him try it.

The process of loading and the clean up wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

I tried CCI and Remington caps. Didn’t notice a lot of difference between the two. The Remington caps are a little bit taller and have me a bit of trouble going in the capper.

You have quickly learned that you'll make new friends everywhere you shoot. Black powder always draws attention, in a good way!

I use 30-35 grains in .44's depending on my mood. Remington caps work when they have priming compound. Unfortunately I've had too many that either didn't have any to start with or it fell out in the tins. I much prefer CCI caps for that reason.

Practice over something soft like a mattress not a tile or hardwood floor.

It seems like in the world of shooting today everything is tactical and training. People forget how to just go out and have fun shooting.
