Another "trinket"
« on: June 29, 2020, 01:55:39 PM »
I thought I would post this as some folks are having trouble keeping their flints sharp. I made this 30 odd years ago from (I think) an old door striker from work. Any heavy piece of brass could be shaped to work. I forged the tool handle to be a screwdriver for tightening/loosening the lock jaw.

That looks mighty handy Em.

I love the handmade, purpose built tools we come up with.

I made these for my activities. The hammer is brass and has an antler handle. It works great for knocking the wedge in or out. The pointed curved handle works great for prying a stubborn barrel off the front of a gun. Just stick it into the loading aperture and pry it off. Doesn't leave a mark.

The screwdriver is just a driver bit, that works perfect on Italian screws. So I fashioned a nice fat antler handle on it, because I have big hands and it's easy to hold on to.

Great ideas Dave. How about others here posting some of their purpose built tools? This thread needs more life!
