I was working on my 3rd Starr today. It is giving me fits as it will bind up after a couple of times working the hammer. I took the cylinder out and the action worked great. Cleaned it and put it back together. Nope, same thing. Duh, is the bolt dropping? That seems to be the problem. More research is needed.

This is the Starr that is acting up. Too bad, as it has the best color/finish of the 3.

The DA Starr does nothing for me. But I've always liked the SA version. I'd like to have one, just because they're different.

This is where I looked to find out about taking the Starr apart. The author doesn't think too highly of the gun, says that even in new condition they had an action that didn't function smoothly.

The DA, yes. Actually all the trigger does is rotate the cylinder into battery and cock the hammer. There is a tiny tab on the back of the TG that 'fires' the gun either by pulling the trigger back far enough to strike it, or if you choose, taking your finger off the trigger  and pressing the tab with your finger pad. Mike Beliveau did a pretty good demonstration of the DA Starr in one of his vids. I prefer by far the SA version.

Yeah, me too! My original DA works, but you really have to pull on the trigger to fire it.

Hey Kirk, does your repro take a .454" ball? A ball slightly under that size loaded easily in my original, too easily in my opinion. Next time I will use .457 RBs.
