I'm glad you got this gun running in great shape again. I missed out on the original offer by "that much" :'(, but I think it went to a good home!

It deserved to be coddled some. It's apparently had a rough life!

Hi Kirk, congratulations on having a nice Walker with conversion cylinder. I can't wait to see your first Walker shooting report.

Regards,
Richard

Thanks, Richard! I only hope I can find time to get to the (outdoor) range before it closes for the season. Otherwise the range report might have to be done at the indoor range using smokeless cowboy loads.

OK, picked up some vinegar. Gonna have a run at antiquing the shiny finish on the conversion cylinder and removing the bluing from the end cap. I want the conversion to look as old and beat as the original. Stay tuned.
I've loaded a few .45 Colt BP rounds using 35gr of 3F and a 250gr bullet, but with the outdoor range closing after Thanksgiving, the likelihood of making it to the outdoor range before it closes for the season is slim to none. Time to settle on a smokeless load for indoor shooting...

Looking forward to seeing how the cylinder turns out.

On the backing plate, you might want to try saturating a rag with vinegar, and rubbing the bluing off. Unless you're going to remove all 6 of those floating firing pins and their springs. I'm afraid that submerging it in vinegar will make it hard to get the liquid out of those tiny little cavities, and then you'll have rusty firing pins.

Just a thought.

I've already pulled the pins and ferrules out on a test run using the new tool I got with my Remmy conversion cylinder. They pop right out. For 14 bucks extra, the tool was very well worth the money.

Perfect.

You're way ahead of me. I should have known you had it all under control.
