A tip for Lee Challenger and Breech Lock press users
« on: August 27, 2020, 04:32:14 PM »
I recently got a Lee Breech Lock press as you may know. Today I set up to de-prime 300+ 45 ACP brass. It soon became apparent that the primers were collecting at the bottom of the chute from the ram, and were bridging across the hole to the dump tube. Hmm says I, what to do? I put a 1/2" drill bit (a long one) in my drill and slightly champhered the top of the hole. Voila! That little trick did the job. The Challenger press and the Breech Lock press are virtually the same as far as parts, except the BL press has a 1-18" ram.

I've never had trouble with spent primers clogging up the works. Mine go right out and onto the floor!  (7+"

OK, second tip. Put a large mouth jar or coffee can under the press so the primers don't fall on the floor! (7+"

I know, right? I'm just lazy!  (7+"

I also need to connect a tube to the bottom of the press, to direct them to the bucket. They fall and go all over the place!

Yeah, the tubing is missing from my press too; I think it is 1/2" ID. However, with a wide mouth container directly under the press, 99+% drop in.

I'll have to start doing that. My wife gets pretty angry when she walks out on the patio barefoot, and steps on one I missed.  (7+"
