I bet it's a blank pistol or a Denix. Look at the chambers. There's a keyway in the one that shows the full chamber. I'm guess it will only chamber a specific type blank.

Still, you'd think they'd use a real gun for the close-up shot.

Yeah it's obviously a blank gun. I just posted it as a funny since they usually don't show reduced muzzles. There are a few more revolvers like that but most of the guns have full size muzzles.

Memory is kinda foggy, but I think I noticed the same thing on the "Josey Wales" set...might have been in the bonus 'making of...' footage. Word is the Walkers were bored for .38 Spl blanks...

They were. They also used non firing guns with nipples for close up shots.
