Manhattan Navy bolt had started to drag on the cylinder. Todays job was to fill in a drop of silver on the worn surface and then Dremel and file it to the right form. Amazing how even a slight wear affects the bolt movement. Mine is now retracting below the water board.

That's just a few of the boys from Uncle Samuel's side. We can't forget Uncle Eli's offspring, nor the cousins... ;)

Nice family photo Capt.
Thanks. I had another pair of CVA Remmy brassers but sold them off a while back.

Great job of making that bolt function well. Not too many places carry new Manhattan bolts any more! L@J

I totally missed the "Manhattan" part of that conversation. Good work, Len! Would a Colt repro piece work if modified to fit in a pinch?

I wouldn't know, but i doubt it. All measures are much smaller on the Manhattan comp to the Colt Navy (i.e. the Manhattan has just 5 chambers).

Before photos: ain't that purty! About two years ago I "scored" on a Pietta 1851 Navy .36 4-screw CFS AZ/1990 for a decent price, or so I thought. The gun had been shot long ago and put up "wet" like some abused animals are treated. It took an entire day with hot water, soap, and much elbow grease with #0000 steel wool to return it to acceptable condition, along with refinishing the wood. Even after the steel wool treatment I was surprised that the old brass patina was still there. Pietta has not marketed one of these since they went to CNC machined revolvers(nearly two decades ago, and that is why I purchased it. I like old C&B revolvers.

Jim

I remember when you got that one Jim. It was a real PITA to get into shape. But it sure is a dandy now.
