One day I will either re-do the rust blue or do a cold blue. The arbor retainer didn't get colored so that needs to be done. Might as well do the whole gun.

Hi Mazo, that snub looks pretty rough, bolt drag line and front trigger guard screw. If one wants a snubby, they can get a Colt replica snubby that's ready to go right out of the box, the Pietta Yank.

The photo is my Yank with conversion cylinder and LeatherSmithMike's holster.

Regards,
Richard

Yeah, it looks a little rough, but that is how I got it and it has been used a lot.The trigger guard was a replacement I was trying, the original fits well. I'll tell you though, my gun probably cost about $300.00 less than yours and shoots quite nicely. And I have the satisfaction of making it myself.  I also have a shoulder holster for it that Leather Mike personally fit to the gun as he made it.

RIP, Mazo. This is a very cool snubby you built. I've seen it before, but just stumbled across it again and thought I would bring it to the forefront for those who may not have seen it. I like home gunsmithed creations like this, and if it has visible wear, so much the better!

A problem with snubnose jobs is that they have no power - or very little, at least.  Worthless as an out of town defensive piece and limited to the point blank. As an aesthetic principle, form should follow function (think Bauhaus).  For me, a firearm’s aesthetic is linked to its utility.  Think of being an old timer, alone out on the baddies.  His firearms will look as good as they work, but here function is about a .22 LR’s worth of energy, so it doesn’t matter what it looks like.  Snubs remind me of the phrase “useless tool”.

They work great with shot loads for use against snakes and small vermin. Also lots of fun for just plinking.
I even have a cap and ball .22  NAA revolver, and like it a lot too.

Rollin bunnies at 12 feet is fine. I don’t mind at all but prefer a real threat neutralizer.  Round ball over a good charge will cut a rattle snake in half.  Ya gotta hit it though.

May be a good excuse for a conversion cylinder  .  .  .

Yep, .45 ACP does reasonably well from a snub barrel.
