Pietta Thunderer 1860 Army Date
« on: March 12, 2021, 01:33:13 PM »
This is a new one on me. It is up for auction on GB.

It has a CM/2014 date code on the right side of the frame, and it also has "2014" stamped into the right side of the barrel lug! I have never seen that before.

Anyone else?

It looks like a nice gun but I am just confounded why Pietta would use a 4-screw frame CFS (cut-for stock) for this model.

Regards,

Jim

Pietta just needs to go out of business and quit making all these BS guns.

It looks like a well-finished gun (non gun!), also seems like Pietta is shuffling parts around to make different guns to sell.

I just got one of these last week, new, from Jedediah Starr and it comes in a Taylor's box, not Pietta--the first I've seen.  It has 2021 on the right side of the barrel, but also has "21" in the date box on the frame above the triggerguard.  I haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet.  The action is very smooth and the finish is good.  GF

My dragoon had the date 2013 on the frame under the trigger guard. My Richards Mason has a date code of [20] on the frame in front of the trigger guard.
