Nice catch Dave. You mentioned it as a "cheaper" gun. Why? Looks gorgeous to me. Have fun!

I might be able to explain Len. There are some black powder guns that are called '"entry level" guns as they are plainer in design and don't have many frills. That doesn't mean they won't shoot as well as a higher-end rifle though. Another rifle in that category had a 2-piece stock with a brass plate between the 2 pieces. The stock could thus be made with shorter lengths of wood.

Yep. Pretty much what Mazo said. I used to have one of those 2 piece stock guns and I hated it. This new one is a step up for sure. But it's still not a high end gun. This one is worth roughly $700. The really nice high end stuff goes for multiple 1000's.

I looked the rifle up in the catalog (Googled it) and the rifle is as Dave shows it, but without the 41" barrel. Twist rate is 1:66 and stock is walnut finished wood. Retail is ~$700.00+ new. It should be a good shooter.

It doesn't look like a two piece stock. If it is he blended it very well. Very nice rifle. Makes me want one.

You're right Hawg. It's a one piece stock. It's a really nice rifle. I had one with the two piece stock and didn't like it. It wasn't fitted very well, and the wood moved around. Very lousy design.

Dave, have you been able to cast any .490" balls yet? Got lead?

Hey Em. No Sir, I haven't. I have been running around to doctor and dentist appointments for weeks. I've had a little heart trouble and on top of that, have to get dentures. It's been a fun few weeks.

I do have lead, I just need to make time to get casting.

Between me and my wife's DR appointments and my laziness I haven't even shot my RM yet.

It sucks getting older fellas. Seems like there's never enough time to do the things we want, but plenty of time for doctors, dentists and such. But getting old is still better than the alternative.
