Barrel and frame misaligned
« on: June 24, 2021, 12:29:15 PM »
I recently bought my 1860 from Cabelas, which has a no return policy on firearms. I checked how the cylinder locked up and it's spot on. What I didn't noticed was the frame and barrel (where the two pins are) don't. I sent an email to Pieces USA on Monday and heard from them yet. My question is how long do they normally take to answer back f at all? I think it might be cosmetic but it's a new gun and would like it fixed without me having to do it. Thanks for any help you give.

Yes, a picture would be helpful. I've not seen one that the barrel and pins don't line up. The barrel wouldn't go on the frame if they didn't.

I'm not familiar with "Pieces USA"

Upon a little investigation , the cylinder chambers and the barrel line up perfectly. The cylinder gap is where it's suppose to be. I guess it's just cosmetic. But there is 0.020 difference between the two sides.

Wow! I've never seen one like that. I would insist they took it back and sent a good one.

Have you tried calling and explaining the situation? I bet they would be willing to take it back.

Problem is I can't find their phone number. I can only email them. If someone has a phone number please pass it along.  I will definitely call them. Thanks in advance.

If you can get them to spring for a new one, go for it. If not, I certainly wouldn't hesitate to shoot it. Your only issue as I see it would be trying to mix and match parts with other Pietta parts, which obviously would not fit.

How does it look with the barrel assembled to the frame?

I finally received a reply from EMF regarding my 1860 Army. Pietta said there is nothing wrong with the gun. This is the last Pietta I buy. I would rather spend the extra money for good fit and finish than what I got. It's too bad because there were a couple other ones I wanted. Thanks for the help.I forgot to mention that it is safe to shoot
