I finally received a reply from EMF regarding my 1860 Army. Pietta said there is nothing wrong with the gun. This is the last Pietta I buy. I would rather spend the extra money for good fit and finish than what I got. It's too bad because there were a couple other ones I wanted. Thanks for the help.I forgot to mention that it is safe to shoot

Thanks for the update. This is sad to hear that a major manufacturer won't stand behind an obvious machining defect.

Wow, that's crazy. Like Capt said, it's good to know they don't stand behind their product. It may just be cosmetic, but it still ain't right. I'm glad I don't buy new guns. I always buy used.

Do you think perhaps Pietta might like to read what is being said on this forum concerning this issue?
And might they understand that we collectively buy a lot of these items and this could affect a whole lot of future sales?
Would a admid. Person here sent this thread to Pietta?
I mean, it couldn't hurt, right?

If Thorr will give me the web address he used, I'd be happy to send it.

Captain, I watched that Pietta factory tour a few weeks ago. It sure seemed like the head guy at Pietta was very concerned about quality and the condition of the guns when they reach the customer.
I'll see if I can research his info. And see if I can dig up an email address for him.
I'll get back to ya and let you know if I have any success.

Email with link to thread sent. Let's hope this will open some further lines of communication. I find it hard not to believe Pietta won't try to make it right.

Captain, thanks for doing that.
Yeah, they should want to make it right. I hope it reaches the head guy.

The person I was dealing with is Charlie Hanson at EMF. He is just the middle man not the decision maker.

Hi, this is very strange. Even with the pins and pin holes offset, does the barrel match the frame well? Hawg asked that question, but didn't get a reply. All current Pietta manufacture is computerized. To have both the frame pin and barrel pin hole offset, but barrel and frame align sounds planned. I wonder if Pietta is trying to prevent parts swapping from older production? Maybe there is a change in bore to cylinder dimensions from past manufacture?

Regards,
Richard

I agree with Richard. So the locating pins are not equidistant from the sides of the frame, and the barrel pins are off the same amount, but everything fits together great. That isn't something I would worry about, you can't see it when the gun is assembled. What is the date stamp on the frame?

If this is one of its kind, it might become really valuable (like old postage stamps that got misprinted)
