On a luckier note, I live fairly close to Dixon's Muzzleloading Shop, and they usually have a nice stock of new/used guns. On a recent trip, I took a quick glance at the Remington section of the glass display case and one of the guns didn't look right. Turns out it was a lightly used Rogers & Spencer. When I asked to see it, the owner said" gee, I just put that in the case a half hour ago". Maybe the quickest sale he ever made
Former Confederate Gen. Joe Wheeler carried an R&S during the Spanish-American War (1898). He was on Teddy's staff. Wore a regulation U.S. Army grey uniform. Tropical attire and a whole lot more.Great pictures, guys. Love that 'plummy' frame.
