CCI Communication
« on: December 08, 2021, 08:19:00 AM »
I recently began wondering why caps seem so hard to find. Maybe it’s not hard for some to find but for me it is. I realize we can all speculate as to why there seems to be a shortage of caps. Has it always been a problem? Is it a problem? Am I beating a dead horse? A number of you industrious guys have just decided to make your own. My hat is off to all of you!! The veterans here certainly know more than I. Please chime in and please share your thoughts and experiences. I for one would love to hear.  I decided to go to the 🐴 mouth or at least get close to the little guy. Here is a response to my inquiry from CCI.

Tim,

We are currently producing and shipping millions of primers and caps a day. With the current market we are in it is very difficult for distributors and dealers to keep them on the shelves. Our products are sent directly from the plant to distributors. Where it is then sold to retailers and then to you. We have no way of tracking who has it or when they will receive it in stock. The market for anything and everything with firearms is unbelievable right now and  it makes everything hard to find.

Thanks,

Z. --  The History Dept. would consider that a primary source.  In court, the original would be called direct evidence.  You did good. Thanks for communicating with them and cutting us in on the results.

Thank you G Dog. I appreciate that. I guess it could all be blamed on the Covid19 pandemic? That's mere speculation on my part. I really don't know how long caps have been hard to acquire. Do you remember the first time you realized that they were seemingly becoming a rare commodity? Love to hear more of your experience on this topic through the years, if you are so inclined to share?
Thank you G,
Z  BTW...My brother refers to his younger brother as "Z".

I was in one of my local gun stores yesterday. They had lots of ammo, component bullets and powder. zero primers or caps.

I was in a rush so did not inquire about this.

Thanks tljack ...Funny thing here in the town I live in. There is this pawn shop that stocks some BP supplies and they do have some but not an abundant supply. I grab what I can. The Walmart stores here have a place for it but always seem to be empty.

It could also be called 'stocking-up for a cold Winter' or just playin the market.   Squirrels do it.  Remember TP?

Absolutely. Either way, it's still hoarding.

Thank you Cap and G Dog. Very good point, hoarding. Go in the store and buy them all👍 I guess we all do a little hoarding. One would still think that there just aren’t enough made to support the enthusiasts?

Hoarding is antisocial behavior on an economic level.  It's also a variety of compulsive neurosis.

Stocking up when faced by short supply isn't 'hoarding'.

Hoarding, in my book, is amassing more of something that you would ever be able use in a lifetime. Plenty of guys are doing this right now. And you see the results.

Okay Cap and G? Rhetorical question here for arguments sake. Is there a particular quantity limit of caps that an individual should be allowed to possess? 1500 for example. Might that possibly be considered hoarding? Isn't this fun? (7+"
