Beautiful firearm! I have a special place in my heart for those Remmies.

Is it an older Cimarron? I know the new ones we've been getting from Cimarron are nice and slick on the inside.

Despite not being an open top, that is a very handsome firearm!

I’ve taken it out 3 times already, planning to go tomorrow. 25 grains of Pyrodex P is normal, 30 works fine with room for more. The largest spout I have is 30 grains. I also use 25 grains in my 1851. The 58 shoots low all the way to 75 yards. My 51 shoots high until 75 yards where it appears to be zeroed. Temperature tomorrow is supposed to be 75 and sunny.

Your experience follows the general consensus that Rems shoot low and Colts shoot high. That's a generalized proposition but true often enough to establish a rule of thumb.

Some people here have corrected that with a little, slow, judicious file work at their range or shooting spot.  That's an ''on location'' task and the emphasis is always on slow.

Back when I was a child my dad taught me about ‘Kentucky Windage’. I still use it. I’m not a target shooter.

Great revolver you have there! I agree 25 is good enough for range shooting 30 is fun but really just wasn't powder IMHO, unless you like hotter load to each their own. But I am always amazed when you go down range with all that goes on in the cylinder you can find your wads 30 feet out on the ground out like new.PS USE 30 GRAINS IF YOUR TAKEN PHOTOS.

I’ve tried using lubed wads and I have not been happy with the way they preform. My load is powder, cardboard wad usually made from cereal boxes, wax, then ball. I have been experimenting with various wax mixture and I’m still looking for what I like best. Hopefully I can find a wax that I can use all year. I usually stop shooting by June and start back in October. When it’s over 105 degrees I usually don’t go out into the desert.

over 105 degrees, I'd have to wear a AC suit lol. Hard to imagine in free states that you could just go out to the desert and go shooting.

I agree with you camo. Just head out into to desert and have fun. I guess it's that easy Lyle? Sounds like a best kept secret.
