1853 Enfield with ball and patch
« on: February 11, 2022, 03:31:47 PM »
Bought a used 1853 from a reenactor, some time back and had to take it down and clean the heck out of it and since I couldn't find any conicals I started shooting it with round balls and patch. Can't beleive how accurate it is, but it does foul up quick so have to run cleanning patch every 5 or 6 rounds but it is a fun shooter.
What did you think, before the 11:00 news told you what to think?

Get some .577 minies and some pine boards and see the awesome destructiveness it causes.
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and tasteth good with ketchup.

Hi camo, as Hawg suggests, minies are the way to go. You will get a lot more shooting before the need to remove fouling using the minies compared to patched balls. The minies are very accurate. Get a Lee minie mold and cast your own minies.

Richard
