Shooting the .45 Colt conversion
« on: February 14, 2022, 07:20:28 PM »
During yesterday's outing, my daughter and I had a little fun with the gated 1860 conversion. My daughter has really taken to the big bore guns.

That’s awesome Dave… did you rework the sight?  Also, have you shot it with smokeless powders as well?

It sounds like you raised her right, Dave. Now you'll have to get her one for her own.

Hello Dave,

Another like, how heavy a load?

AntiqueSledMan.

Those are pretty max BP loads we're shooting. 35gr GOEX FFFg and a 250gr bullet.

Fun stuff Dave. The grips on that one are real nice!!

Thanks Tim. I made those grips myself.

I didn't Mark. It's the standard 1860 Army sight. I just reinstalled it after shortening the barrel. I have not shot smokeless out of this one. I intend to get some Trailboss and do a bit of smokeless reloading for it though. One of these days.

I'm sure she'll be bugging me for her own soon enough!

Thanks Robert.

They are made from urethane resin cast in a mold I made. Then I used various Dremel tools to I've them the stag look.

Yeah Tim, it's mostly stain and a little paint here and there. They're pretty convincing.

It looks great. Did you make your own grip forms or buy one?
