As some may know, I have an appreciation for short barreled revolvers. Because of that I frequently take a hacksaw to the long barreld models and create a more easily carried piece but this one came to me already chopped.

I have only recently persued 1851s but this is the third one I have encountered and it is also the third one that is what I consider to be a civilian model, with no provisions for a shoulder stock. Whoever shrtened it did a good job and replaced the front sight well. I have not yet taken this to the range so I do not know if the front sight is set for my eyes but I doubt it. Not sure if I'll replace the post or inlet a dovetailed blade.
