Man, that certainly is a fine one. Beautiful. Congratulations. Now you'll have to make a holster for it. :-H

I was surprised at the size and weight difference between the ASM and the Uberti versions. This is very close to the same size as the originals. I liked the way it handles. I got it from my good friend Gary. Caught him in a weak moment. He did all the prep for the Nickle plating, reworked the internals and had the grips made.

It wasn't cheap....but it was a very good deal especially with the gun leather that came with it. Now to cut down some 45 brass and make up some Schofields just because.....:)

Starline has Schofield brass with the Schofield head stamp.        https://www.starlinebrass.com/45-sw-schofield-brass/
Kind of expensive but will give that authentic period look.

Remember, if you cut down .45 Colt brass to Schofield length, you are then still shooting .45 Colt according to the US Government contract specs of 1878.

Original .45 Colt on the left, Original 1878 contract spec .45 Colt on the right:

An original civilian cartridge box.

I use those myself for CAS. They're the most accurate loads I've found. And they're totally historically accurate, even to the head stamping, which never changed for the shorter ones.

Thanks Mike....the headstamp would be worth it. I guess I have a couple boxes of Schofield to pick up that go with the gun.... that development just made this thing a very sweet deal.

LOL....me too Mike! I couldn't be happier! Even though it came with a very nice rig to carry it..... I'm looking for just the right holster to make. The Old El Paso rig is superb with just the right amount of wear and would work fine....but it's not one of mine....lol. I'm sure you know how I feel about that!

I just looked up the Jesse James rig on the Old El Paso website......$660 for the double holster rig.  The money belt alone is $240. I'm well under $1000 for that, the pistol and 2 boxes of Schofield cartridges. Gary took VERY good care of me and those items will never leave here.
